The Edison Amateur Radio Network was founded in 1938, after the Los Angeles Flood that impacted Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties. The Los Angeles, San Gabriel and Santa Ana Rivers burst their banks and most telephone communication was cut off. Amateur radio proved to be the only reliable communication.
Today, EARN helps to provide a backup to existing communications systems with a series of linked VHF and UHF repeaters, as well as HF (non-repeater) radios. Members contribute to safety and preparedness issues, and help our community if and when needed.
